Supportive Therapy (CBT Oriented)

In Deha Psychotherapy Center, we offer supportive psychotherapy (cognitive behavioural oriented) in English with Psychologist Taylan Ozkuzucu.
Supportive Psychotherapy
Clients generally seek individual therapy when they find it difficult to cope with emotional problems. Supportive psychotherapy helps clients dealing with their distress and life problems. It is a comforting and encouraging process. Therapist provides an atmosphere in which clients have the chance to express themselves, their opinions and emotions.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT aims to help clients to notice their feelings, thoughts and behaviours, and then to change the way that they think and behave. If a client’s behaviour and thought patterns change, feelings consequently change in a positive way.
CBT is a combination of cognitive and behavioural therapies. These are combined in CBT because how we behave, how we think and how we feel are vital parts of our ‘mental gear’. Cognitive or behavioural emphasis can vary in therapy depending on the condition being treated. For example, there is more emphasis on behavioural therapy when treating obsessive-compulsive disorder or specific phobia. Nevertheless the emphasis may be on cognitive therapy when treating depression.
CBT is a collaborative effort between the therapist and client. Homework is central feature of CBT.
Some Indications of CBT:
Mood disorders-Depression
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Personality Disorders
Specific Phobia
Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia)
Panic Disorder
It is different to counselling, because is more directive and structred than counselling sessions. Although CBT therpist offer support and empathy, the therapy has a structure, is problem-focused and is practical.
It focuses ‘here and now ‘- how our current thoughts and behaviours are affecting us now. It acknowledges that the events and our parents in the past have shaped the way that we currently think and behave. CBT aims to change our current thoughts and behaviours so that we can function better now and in the future.
Sessions for individual therapy are approx. 50 mins and generally held once per week.
